Mission Don't Let Julie Be By Herself
Thanks to the wonders of social communication once the bat signal was sounded I’ve been thoroughly taken care of and the wagons have appropriately circled. Thanks Rob, Hyde, Joi, Jay, Matthew, Matt, Ari, Georg, Michael O, Michael G, Brian V, Carolyn, Jason, Phil, Kevin and everyone humoring me on Tumblr.
I have managed to only have about 20 minutes by myself since this all began and I...

Room Service Calls Back
Room Service: So I spoke with the bartender and he can make a facsimile of one. Is that adequate?
Me: Yeah Rob isn't too picky. I'll have one of the proper drinks on the menu
Room Service: Well, we will send that right up to you.

Not Sure If We Have Little Umbrellas
Me: So I'm having a rough night and while I realize this is a strange and tacky request ummm could we get some Mai Thais?
Room Service: Hmm I'll ask the bartender but I am not sure we have little umbrellas. Is that OK?

Billy Reid is the man. It’s not just the clothes, it’s his whole approach to style. He nails what it means to be a southern gentleman in the 21st century albeit in a very unabashed and laid back way. We’re big fans.
Going to miss shopping at Billy Reid on the weekends

Metaphor Sheer
On my staycation I found time to finish China Mieville’s Embassytown. Anyone who enjoys ruminating on literal and figurative meaning will enjoy it. It explores the language of an alien race called Arieke and the implications of literal non signifying speach, similes and how one lies.
It is a lovely science fiction companion to In The Beginning There Was The Command Line for anyone as...

Why is Yuppie Burnout So Expensive?
My burnout seems to be kind of expensive. I’m so stressed by angry women on Facebook and planning media to sell clothing that a $400 a night room at a trendy hotel and a $27 lunch consisting of kale and wheatgrass seems both reasonable, necessary and healthy. Can anyone explain to me why this is?

I use the opportunity to reveal vaguely unsettling things about myself. What did I do this 4th of July weekend? WATCH 17 HOURS OF STAR TREK. It is extra fun when its a call w super corporate people & they aren’t sure how to respond. Seriously. Discuss the nerdiest weirdest shit you enjoy and watch as Conde Nast types squirm because they have to listen to...
