Liam Sarsfield of MetaLab on Building Tumblr Themes
The idyllic seaside township of Victoria, British Columbia, is home to MetaLab, an interface design agency that’s discovered a profitable business in custom-built and à la carte Tumblr themes. So profitable, in fact, that themes are the main work product of a spinoff company called Pixel Union. Creative director Liam Sarsfield has strong opinions on what makes design beautiful — and how best to make it.
When was MetaLab formed, and by whom?
MetaLab was founded in 2006 by our commander-in-chief, Andrew Wilkinson. He had gone off to journalism school thinking that he wanted to change the world; he quickly realized that that wasn’t the way that he wanted to do it. He took up residence in his parent’s basement, and that’s how it started.

I like this because ALLDAYEVERYDAY has done a gazillion themes and of course our big theme triumph was releasing the ArtSheSaid theme into the theme garden as a gift at the end of Ann Taylor’s campaign. It has now had over 110K installs which is quite a number (now THAT IS EARNED MEDIA).

1942: During World War II, Avon converted more than half of one of its laboratories into a factory for the war effort, making paratrooper kits, gas-mask canisters and pharmaceuticals. At the same time, Representatives sold war bonds.

The Avon Tumblr our team at ALLDAYEVERYDAY worked on has gone live. If anyone is interested! Check out these retro Avon ladies amirite?

Having a supportive workplace is important for developing good personal habits. For instance Andy ordered us two tubs of Gold Standard today just so we have it on hand for those rough nutrition days.

Obviously I look to Flavorpill to keep me abreast of the most relevant culture of the moment and clearly there is nothing more relevant to internet culture at this moment than Justin Bieber’s “One Less Lonely Girl” collaboration with 1-800 FLOWERS.
Phil at ALLDAYEVERYDAY is quite a Bieber fan so naturally I made sure to show how with it I was by purchasing him this fine floral arrangement. This bouquet of ‘Red Intuition’ roses was personally selected by Justin for his fans. It includes an exclusive “One Less Lonely Girl” scarf and membership to Justin’s fan club, Bieber Fever. Alas Phil did not receive the scarf but the wonderful folks at 1800 FLOWERS have exceptional customer service and they promise to send the scarf over to Phil by Thursday.
